Dennis Conner won back the America’s Cup from the Australians 25 years ago today. It was a great day for American sailing. Dennis Conner changed the face of sailing and after losing it and winning back cemented his place in America’s Cup history.
I stayed up late many nights watching the racing from Freemantle. I know most think of watching sailboat racing is like watching paint dry but I’ll take the racing they did in the windy waters off Australia’s west coast over most sports any day.
